Basic Disclosure Certificate.

A Basic Disclosure is a criminal record check (termed as a "criminal conviction certificate" in Part V of the Police Act 1997) and it is the lowest level of Disclosure. It is available to anyone for any purpose, on payment of the appropriate fee. It contains details of convictions considered unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 or state that there are no such convictions. This type of Disclosure is only issued to the applicant. It is not job-specific or job related and may be used more than once.

The Disclosure Scotland requires applicants to provide information that confirms their identity. Copies of two ID forms (driving licence, valid passport, birth certificate or EU nationality card) and a copy of one document as a proof of address (utility bill, bank statement - dated within last three months) need to be provide. In 90% of all cases, the Basic Disclosure Certificate will be sent to you within 2 weeks after we have received the completed application form.

You can use either your home address or Global Choices’ address as the return address. Global Choices will comply with the Data Protect law and will take every precaution to protect your data.

The disclosure contains information valid only on the day of issue. You may be asked by your employer to renew it when required. You can apply for it as many times as needed.

Disqualifying Criteria

The Basic Disclosure Certificate is an official document that shows all convictions held under a list of disqualifying criteria. This document may be required by some employers to hold a restricted zone pass or to work under special conditions.

ACRO Police Certificate – immigration related purposes

ACPO Criminal Record Office provides police certificates for individuals wishing to immigrate to countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and United States of America. If you have been living in the UK regardless of your length of stay or nationality, then you are able to apply for ACRO. This certificate is NOT valid for employment purposes.

    Certificates include whether or not the applicant has a UK convictions, all convictions, warnings, reprimands and cautions recorded on the UK Police Systems, the certificate might also contain information about foreign criminal history that has been disclosed to the UK. Please notice that ACPO guidelines are not compatible with ‘Scottish and Military convictions.
